This position is responsible for using knowledge of VA programs and Provider Services operations to develop and provide subject matter expertise to engage providers and internal departments on provider education content, including live seminar, webinar, and eSeminar presentations.
Collaborates with experts in other departments to develop and provide content for TriWest Provider Portal, provider e-newsletter, email and fax blasts
Develops communication concepts and activities designed to enhance TriWest’s image and influence the actions and opinions of providers.
The Provider Education Specialist will simplify complicated concepts and ideas, develop storyboards for to engage providers in educational content, and will display an understanding of mass communication strategy utilizing principles of writing for the public.
Assists with the project management, provider portal content administration, and various strategic initiatives for key internal and external audiences..
o Edits and proofs materials for proper length, sentence structure, grammar and content and communications standards. Ensures consistency in content and style in all communications;
o Designs and develops reference materials to be utilized by TriWest providers, TriWest employees, and network subcontractors. Develops content, coordinates review and approval, distributes to providers and posts content to provider portal. Consult with other departments regarding educational necessities for providers, establishing priority status of proposed articles.
o Assists with corrective action plans through education initiatives as needed to make certain that providers meet thresholds for compliance with program requirements.
o Conducts extensive research on assigned topics and efficiently organize content into effective provider education programs. Conducts extensive research with VA policies, Internet and Intranet, and interviews subject matter experts. Collaborates within Provider Services and with other departments to ensure that the most important, up-to-date content impacting providers is included in the final product.
o Provides ongoing maintenance and updates to existing materials as needed. o Establish methods to obtain feedback; track, assess, and report results of campaign outcomes to TriWest leadership
o Develops and attends presentations with network providers to educate, resolve issues and increase overall provider satisfaction/participation.o Coordinate review process of all external communications with subject matter experts at all levels throughout TriWest.o Responsible for the provider handbook, including content development and updates, review by SMEs and VA as needed.
o Represents Provider Relations and Education in work groups and committees as assigned, primarily relating to process changes in other departments requiring provider education.
o Develops and maintains a comprehensive, up-to-date desk procedures related to provider content development.
o Establish effective relationships with medical societies, medical associations, hospital associations and other health care associations.
o Perform other duties as assigned.

o Responsible for the provider handbook, including content development and updates, review by SMEs and VA as needed.
Education & Experience
o Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or Communications or any combination of education and experience that provides an equivalent background.
o 3-5 years of experience in Provider Education or related field.
o Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat.
o Prior experience using content management system, such as EPi Server.
o Prior experience using email distribution system, such as Exact Target.
o Prior experience working for a healthcare organization.
o Understanding of provider network management.
o Experience with facilitating meetings.
o Experience in leading projects.
